Ok, let me start by saying Christmas was hard, it was by no means awful or disastrous but it was hard, but I am looking forward to next year, when Egg will be that little bit older. I am not going to go into Christmas day that much. But Christmas eve was so cute! Egg has never been excited about Christmas before, so it was wonderful to see. When I passed him his new stocking (a knitted red and white striped one) and my little literal thought it was a sleeping hat and put it on his head!
I honestly need to sit down and write a list of how great he doing just now, as it really does get over looked. You know with depression and living in this bloody house for a start keeps me down. Then when Egg is spending ALL day tantruming (don't blame him, mind you) and repeating and with his new obsession KEYS (which you might not think is hard, ok, fine you look after him then 'kay? JOKING). No really the keys is hard. Keys and ride ons, not the silly kid ones, though they will do, but the ones aimed at teenagers, racing cars with all the cool bits cars have, like peddles. Got some great photos at the carnival this Sunday of his feet on the peddles. As he is not a lanky teenager yet, his whole body forced right down in the car to actually reach the peddles, with his little arms reaching up to the wheel :0D
I just deleted a huge rant, about why the key/ride on thing is a pain in the ass, your welcome ;0)
And the GOOD, boy it's good. His talking is really coming on, if I could back flip I would, that's what my heart does every time it happens. I might start a little speech book (not a "progress" data book mind, LMAO), give it a little read every time I feel I can't cope.
Anyway, we didn't really do gifts this year. No surprises for me and Egg's dad this year. Not moaning, it's absolutely fine, I got two books I really wanted Amanda Blake Soules The Creative Family which was a fun read for me and About A Boy by Nick Hornby-I was going to link his name, but I got lost in "Nick Hornby google land" and couldn't pick! (FYI at my local WHSmith it's going for £1.99!!) I love the film soooo much, and the book proving to be a very enjoyable read, though when I read it I hear Marcus and Will instead off me, did I mention I'm mad? Eggs dad got a PSP game (big kid) and a book and our parents got us a dvd (so two in total) though we actually ordered all this stuff together.
Anyway one of the dvds we ordered to give to our parents to then give back to us (I sound mad but I do it as I want Egg to see everyone get gifts, so Christmas isn't just seen as a him day) was Snow Cake, a film with Sigourney Weaver playing an autistic adult. Hey only £5, UK folk!! Bloody amazing film, really very good. I won't tell you to much about it, as I would hate to ruin it for anyone. I love why it's called Snow Cake, fantastic!! Like all films, there are bits I won't like, I am far to opinionated for my own good re:autism, but I tried just to sit back and relax and enjoy the film, and I did, and it was beautiful. Now my for my ultimate favourite line in the film, no not dazlious, but when a busy body says "I know all about autism. I've seen that film" I laughed so hard I thought I'd cry. If you've not seen it, whatcha waitin' for ?! Oh and I suggest not reading about the film, just watching it, made it really good for us. This will be one I'll watch more that I will ever admit to (when I was a kid I used to watch tapes (oh how I miss VHS) over and over.
UPDATE:This may be pointing out the obvious but the film, well it's to my liking. You might HATE IT. I remember really enjoying a fictional book on autism (written by a mother of a child with autism) and people really slatted it, and I was like, it's. a. book. Be warned.

I am not a real big movie person. Movies around here usually are things like Jimmy Neutron, Thomas Tank Engine(everyone ever made, over and over...)and Transformers or some such a thing.
"Snow Cake" sounds good and I may have to get it. I had not even heard of it. I did not know she made such a movie. Tells ya where I've been.
I am happy you had a good holiday.
Ah I only found out myself a few months back myself, on another blog!
Egg dominates tv during the (non school) day. Just now it's his new "something special" dvds (which don't drive me mad!! finally something that doesn't drive me mad!!)
Ah, glad to hear your boy was excited about Christmas. It does get better and better each year!
Happy New Year!
Thanks, got my fingers crossed already for next year! Happy new year back!
Isn't it so heartwarming when they make that forward progress? Every additional word we get is cause for celebration here!
I haven't been around much, just wanted to say hello. Also, it's wonderful to read a (mostly) happy post from you. It's nice to know you're doing okay right now.
Snow Cake sounds good, I did see a few clips when it came out. Will have a look on Amazon later. Glad Christmas was mostly good. I will get round to posting about ours, honest. Happy New Year! And I've added you to my favorites list.
